NYCAP Research Alliance Marks 2nd Anniversary

October 3, 2014

Established in October of 2012, the NYCAP Research Alliance is celebrating its second year anniversary after being funded and recognized as a transformational project under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.

Designed to spur scientific biomedical discovery and economic growth, NYCAP and its founding members are providing a collaborative platform to foster new and existing research collaborations across numerous biomedical research entities in the region; to leverage research-related investments and increase the amount of supported biomedical research underway; to identify opportunities for the development of new scientific advancements that will lead to commercialization opportunities; to encourage the development of business connections that will promote the development of biomedical interventions and devices; and to bring new jobs and new economic opportunities to a sector that is expected to continue to grow in the years ahead.

The NYCAP Research Alliance’s founding partners, Albany Medical College, the University at Albany, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Alliance on October 3, 2012.
